Say Hello To My Little Friend

This guy's been keeping me company the last couple of days:

Needless to say, it is HARD to put drywall up on a ceiling by yourself...

Chris,

I admire the "sweat equity" on your project. I'm considering hanging the drywall to save money on my project too. I've never done it before, but that hasn't stopped me from doing other things in the past. Do you have any words of wisdom for me?

It is hard to put it up yourself. One thing that caught my eye tho. It is typically better to install the ceiling board first. Then the wall board will support the ceiling edges if anything were to ever sag. Makes for a better corner joint.

Hey guys. Thanks for following along. Good luck with your place Clinton - I love seeing all these other build blogs out there.

With respect hanging drywall on the ceiling/wall, we had to go reverse order because our HVAC sub bumped us back by two months. So in order to get moving we hung what we could on the walls. We have 97.5" from floor to ceiling, which meant that in most places we were able to leave a 1/2" or so on the top and the bottom of the sheets on the wall; so no moisture will wick up the drywall from the slab, which can be a problem, and I was able to get the stronger corners up top (it also aided me in getting a lot of the sheets up - I had a little lip to brace the board).

I've got some other DIY drywall hanging advice (not that I'm an expert...) - I'll get it all up in a post in the next day or so.
