Soliciting Suggestions

Kate suggested that we post a gallery of pics from this project (we're well over 1000 pictures already). I suppose I could throw everything on a Flickr page and just link over to it. Anybody have any better ideas?

I struggle with the same issue. I use my iWeb for family pictures and whatnot, but I haven't seen any software/site that makes browsing through a large number of pictures anything other than a chore. If you do go with Flickr, I would suggest using some organizing principle (month, room, major system, or something else) that will offer natural divisions for creating separate albums.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Thanks again for blogging all this.

Well you use blogger, so you could use Google's photo app: Picasa Web Albums. Picasa would make it easy to organize, then you could just upload to albums on Google. The snow pics are great. Can't wait to rent the house for a weekend. -Ross

Does iPhoto have an online sharing component? Picassa does, where you can just post the link on the blog so people don't have to log in. If iPhoto had the same it would be super easy for you, but if not I whole-heartedly support the Picassa idea. (Obviously.) Go Google!

One of these days Google is going to rule the world, Kate, and you're either going to be very happy or very sad. Maybe they'll give you good credit for all the nice things you've done for them...

Picasa it is, then, with some sort of organization system. That'll be another good procrastination technique when I've got other things to do.

Ross, we haven't forgotten about you. Yours will be the first invitation, and I would have extended it already if we had things like, well, a kitchen faucet or a working range top...

FYI, the latest version of iPhoto does offer Web Galleries, which allows you to share your photos online, and your friends can also add photos to the gallery (optional, of course) by uploading or via e-mail. If you have an iPhone, there are even more options. I don't have an iPhone, though, so I'm not sure what they are.

I didn't realize that the house would be available to rent. Is this only for friends, or is it open to your reading public?

I've fiddled with our .mac page a bit trying to get our iPhoto stuff up on there, but we're not getting along so well right now. It doesn't want to accept more than a handful of pics per page...

Oh this will be a rental alright - somebody's got to pay for all the money I've spent! Open to all comers, though not for a little bit still. I'll post plenty of info once we get close, and we'll have a real web page and all, but if you want to be on our email list just send me a note at lostrivermodern AT gmail DOT com.
