Having some trouble finding a good place for my bird feeder. So many oaks with no horizontal branches. This pine's first branches are about eye-level with the deck, so that's good. But don't want to have to drag out a 24' ladder every time I need to refill it...

Hey - here's a thought: Put the feeder on a nylon rope. Attach a pulley to the branch and run the cable to the ground. When you want to fill the feeder, simple lower the thing to the ground via the cable/pulley setup. That's how I store my bike in my garage (up on the ceiling)
Now that right there is why I keep posting on this blog. Thanks!
Hey there - Shawn just suggested what I was about to write - but we did it with the wire (like you would use on a deck). When you go to fill the feeder we pull the wire towards us -like a zip line actually.
We live in NYC and are in a simkilar situation - I just have to say how fantastic this is - especially your budget and explanations. I realize its a labor (of love or not its labor) and I just wanted to say thanks.

Thanks, Frank. And any questions you have, send them along - you talked to Res4?
Amy and I are duly impressed, and we miss you all, but especially mookie. When are we going to see you? It can be in WV if necessary.
Jeff
Jeff Brown! WV probably isn't necessary, but you are of course more than welcome...
We're hoping to come through the city on the way to my mom's at the end of July/beginning of August - a pit stop at your fancy digs would make a perfect rest stop. I'll keep you posted.
